Gamers join familiar characters from the Type-Moon universe and slice through hordes of foes in Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star. Set after the Holy Grail war of Fate/Extra, the action finds Nero and her master in control of a Regalia ring and a wish-granting computer, but faced with a new enemy who also holds a ring. The first action game in the series, Fate/Extella lets players control and transform three different Servants as they smash their way through scores of enemies, using combo attacks and Extella Maneuvers to thin out the crowd and obtain keys to control sectors.

    Budget "musou" game offers monotonous gameplay, but engrossing storytelling

    It's clearly a budget title, and it seems eBay's standards of what is considered a "good" game are blatantly Western-centric, in terms of overrating the significance of graphic fidelity. Ironically, while I don't think this very game is too compelling in its "musou"-style gameplay (no such game is too compelling), it is probably far superior than any over-the-shoulder "cinematic" Sony AAA first-party title or XBox first-person-shooter shovelware, in the sense that at least you are playing a real game, knockoff of Dynasty Warriors though it may be. The point, I guess, is that you aren't playing Fate/Extella for the gameplay, but rather for the story. Personally, I hate the idea of prioritizing Narrative over Gameplay, but it works here, as it did in its JRPG prequel, Fate/EXTRA. A lot of ...

    Fate/Extella review

    While there is a lot of exposition and dialouge in the game, it is a very compelling horde based fighter that has simple controlles and lets you play at your own pace. The gameplay is very similar to Legend of Zelda Hyrule Warriors.
