An enhanced update of 1999's acclaimed swashbuckling role-playing title, Skies of Arcadia Legends makes its GameCube debut with a refined battle system, new characters, alternate side quests, and a host of other features designed to make it the definitive version the developers originally intended. For those unfamiliar with the earlier Dreamcast game, players assume the role of a young treasure hunter named Vyse who, along with female companions Aika and Fina, charts a course for adventure in a sleek airship. The party is pitted against legions of the tyrannical Valuan Empire and its Imperial Armada. There are also marauding Black Pirates to contend with, scalawags known for preying upon any ship daring to fly near them. <br><br>Players explore the world of Arcadia in the air and on the ground. A total of six moons are available to visit, each possessing its own set of villages, buildings, and dungeons. Battles taking place on the airship involve steering near enemy vessels, firing laser cannons or other projectile weapons, guarding against attacks, and possibly fleeing the scene. Airship and on-foot battles are presented in a traditional turn-based fashion. Each character is skilled with a specific weapon, whose power can be enhanced by finding and equipping Moon Stones. Moves characters can perform during combat are dependant on the number of the party's Spirit Points, which diminish with every spell cast in battle and advanced technique performed (called S-moves).<br><br>As players attempt to acquire fame and bounty at the evildoers' expense, they must prepare to defend their ship at every turn. The world of Arcadia is largely uncharted territory, so players must thoroughly explore both the land and in the air to discover new areas. Side quests include seeking out wanted lists or bounties for boss characters, where players can battle villainous pirates to reap a prescribed reward. There are also pets to care for and develop into more powerful creatures, such as catching flying moonfish and feeding them to an item-giving bird. Perhaps the most significant addition to the GameCube game is a female bounty hunter who will constantly pursue Vyse and his party throughout their journeys.

Skies of Acadia what can I say that hasn't been said??
Nothing its an amazing game. You can just fallow the value trends of it for game cube or dreamcast its going up up up and that's not without cause. If its your 1st time playing you should know it is an old turn based rpg. Now that's a good thing if you like that (I do) it has aged well and plays like the timeless game it is. And if your a fan returning to it. Well the game cube game has a few extras, tho the sound quality took a small hit as it is more compressed then on the dreamcast. How ever it is going for about 50 to 70$ less the the dreamcast version. Take your pick you'll enjoy both for sure!Nothing its an amazing game. these old games have heart
theres no better time in gaming history in my opinion than the ps2/gamecube era. its the golden age for me. this game is good from what I've played. no voice acting but that's ok. lush, imaginative lahdscapes and bosses. what the developers did despite technical limitations, that's all part of the charm. if PlayStation doesn't put in the ability to play the old games on their new system its gonna be a real shame. theres no better time in gaming history in my opinion than the ps2/gamecube era. its the golden age for me. this game is good from what I've played. no voice acting but that's ok. lush, imaginative lahdscapes and bosses. what the developers did despite technical limitations, that's all part of the charm. if PlayStation doesn't put in the ability to play the old games on their new system its gonna be a real shame.

Absolutely gorgeous and gripping game
I've been a fan of Final Fantasy ever since I played 7 and 9. This completely exceeded my expectations in every way! The characters are excellently crafted, the gameplay is fun and addictive, the story is amazing, the soundtrack is beautiful and the world of Arcadia is so gorgeous to look at! Thanks so much for this game and I thank you also for giving extra padding inside the case, I've been burned by that several times before. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to anyone who's a fan of Final Fantasy or any turn-based RPG. 6 out of 5 stars!!!I've been a fan of Final Fantasy ever since I played 7 and 9. An obscure gem
I ran across this game when it was new, and immediately fell in love. The story, the innovative game play, the depth of the world.. my brothers and I spent hours and hours together exploring. It wasn't until almost a decade later (I ended up donating all my games and systems to the children's wing of my local hospital at some point in the interim), that I realized that very few people had ever heard of this game, which made it hard to find another copy. I couldn't believe that this game wasn't the beginning of a series or something. A good copy goes for about 150 now, and I'm not surprised at all.I ran across this game when it was new, and immediately fell in love.
