When I contacted seller about the missing piece they apologized but offered no resolution. An absolute waste of my time and money.     Thorough and helpful

    Very thorough book by an experienced backpacker and gear tester. The author has a long view -- he can talk about backpacking trends over decades and is familiar with other classic books on the subject (and knows the authors in some cases!). The chapter on footwear answered questions I had wondered about but haven't seen discussed in depth in other books. Fourth edition (2012) is still highly relevant, though some products have been updated or are no longer available.

    Terrific bok

    I bought this book for friends who have minimal backpacking experience. Before giving to them I glanced through and ended buying my own copy. It has good information for beginners and experienced backpackers alike.
