Excellent Deadbolt-best quality-best in WiFi Deadbolt class
Operates smoothly and effortlessly, so long as properly installed. Schlage website does a good job of showing and controlling status of individual locks. Support from Google Home/Assistant is primate and prone to lost WiFi connections--while Schlage site still has good access. Connecting locks to 2.4GHz WiFi was easy as pie, and linking the account to Google Home caused immediate upload of all details. Main disadvantage is a feature it does not have--not a defect. The lock does not sense whether the door is closed or not quite closed. Some of the lock's features like auto lock or time-based locking, would be usable and useful only if you were protected from locking the deadbolt on a door that was still open. With only a couple of small complaints, this is a great lock. Schlage Encode Doesn’t Disappoint!
The Encode is a stylish smart deadbolt that is easy to install and setup. It took me about 20 minutes to install it and set it up. The only issue I had is the plate that gets installed on the frame side didn’t line up. The hole in the Schlage plate is much smaller than the plate that was already there. I could have either filed the Schlage plate hole bigger or kept the plate that was there. I chose option 2, I’ll just spray paint the existing plate to match the Schlage deadbolt. I set it up to work with my Google assistant. The nice thing is you can lock your door by voice but cannot unlock (this prevents would be burglars from trying to unlock by voice). All in all this product is built solid. My favorite features are: 1. Never having to carry a key anymore. Between the app and the keypad I can always get in. 2. Knowing when the door is opened, unlocked , or locked via notifications. 3. Auto lock feature (can disable) 4. Ability to lock/unlock door from anywhere 5. The look of class.
Schlage is a known product and a cornerstone in their market. The product is sturdy and good-looking in the aged bronze. My wife wanted her door knobs etc., to match, and I was pressed into service.
