I would think the title is accurate. It states what the book intends to reveal to the reader.
The book is well written and defines Lee as he probably was. It is a long read, and in places boring, BUT, this is true in most books concerning high -light people. It's never as you think it should have been. Nevertheless, the-book is worth the time.
A straightforward description of the book's contents.
An excellent insight into the thinking and motivation of one of the major figures in the Civil War. Along with the memoirs of U.S. Grant, I've gained a much deeper understanding of what led to probably the most divisive and devastating war in America history.
