Product Information

A respectable man hides a monstrous secret in this harrowing drama from Austrian filmmaker Markus Schleinzer. Michael (Michael Fuith) is a seemingly average man in his mid-thirties who works for an insurance firm. He is good at his job, is friendly with his co-workers, gets along well with his siblings, and has a tidy home in the suburbs. But Michael is also a sexual predator obsessed with young boys, and he hides a ten-year-old child, Wolfgang (David Rauchenberger), in his cellar as his slave. He frequently tells Wolfgang that his parents don't want him back, and while he takes good care of the boy, he also forces the child to have sex with him whenever he wishes. Michael follows the title character's double life over the course of five months, as he presents the image of an ordinary man to the world during the day and gives free reign to his ugliest desires at night.

    Super-speedy dispatch and delivery, ordered late Thurs evening and it arrived Saturday! Packaging could have been a bit more robust as the case seemed more damaged than it showed in the picture so I think it got battered a bit in the post but I have a spare case so not a problem.     Very original but not for everyone

    This film is partially engaging for the subject matter but mainly because the banality of it's execution adds paradoxically to the sense of horror. Michael is ordinary, less than ordinary and most people will be able to relate to this bore of a man. And yet keeping a young boy in his cellar is somewhat abnormal. Clearly this juxtaposition keeps the anticipation until the denouement which adequately plays out and leaves the viewer with a sense of tension and respect. I enjoyed this film and the taboo subject of paedophilia and all it's repulsiveness is approached with originality and a rare integrity.
