Synopsis
'Dragon Tactics' presents a potent mix of China's four-thousand-year-old history and management methods that borrow as much from Confucianism as from new technologies. It explores a unique approach to business by analysing everything from the unexpected philosophies of Chinese business leaders on competition, risk, profit and failure to the role of family and how it is changing. It defines the cultural spirit of a wolf pack: its skill of observation, its respect of the leader's authority, its embrace of flexibility, and more. Ultimately, the book describes the Dragon Tactics mentality in entrepreneurial China, and in those who embody it, to explain how and why Chinese businesses thrive in chaos. In less than thirty years, world-renowned Chinese companies like Haier, Huawei, Alibaba (and many other companies virtually unknown outside of China) have converted the country into a fast-paced consumer society and a powerhouse of innovation and survival. How did these Chinese brands become so successful so quickly in one of the world's most unpredictable, hyper-competitive markets? How do they navigate the local uncertainty that frustrates and intimidates most Western managers? There are many lessons for Western leaders to learn-a new set of quite unexpected but proven business management skills, how they came to be, and why they work-to not only to succeed within China, but more importantly, to better navigate an increasingly uncertain and volatile world far beyond China's borders. Informed by decades of experience in the Chinese marketplace, Aldo Spaanjaars and Sandrine Zerbib don't simply unveil the secrets of how Chinese companies operate and stay competitive. Rather, more usefully, the authors provide a clear understanding of the cultural forces driving the business practices that otherwise confound outsiders. Book jacket., With constantly changing economic contexts, hyper-competition in every industry, rapid digitization, and political uncertainty, China has established itself as one of the world's most unpredictable markets. Yet, large-scale corporations like Huawei, Alibaba, and Tencent have conquered a portion of the world market, blowing past their Western competition while doing so. This is even seen on a smaller scale, with thousands of nameless Chinese companies distributing products and services on an international scale. But how did these corporations fight for their success and then sustain it in such an impossible market? How did companies create a market that overcame Western dominance, establish future visions that have carried their organizations to success, and operate on an international scale with never before seen speed? The answers to these questions are some of China's best-kept industry secrets. With over 30 years of experience in CEO and COO positions at some of China's largest companies, Aldo Spaanjaars and Sandrine Zerbib use Dragon Tactics to unpack these secrets, demonstrating the central ideas, customs, practices, and theories that sets China above its international competitors. By incorporating concrete industry examples, direct insight from Chinese corporate leaders and culture, as well as strategy and management practises used across China, the authors challenge Western expectations and unravel the complex Chinese entrepreneurial market. With a potent description of China's four millennial old history, spanning over proven industry processes and leading market theory, Dragon Tactics provides a lesson for leaders around the globe about how businesses survive in an increasingly volatile world., In life and business, change is the only constant. Read Dragon Tactics and learn how to thrive in uncertainty! In business, change is the only constant. Dragon Tactics demonstrates that Chinese entrepreneurs know how to thrive in uncertainty. The book contains many lessons for Western leaders to learn how to ride the wave of change.Global conflicts, environmental challenges and rapid digitization are just some of the unpredictable factors that are putting increasing strain on traditional business models. Good price for the book. Shipping was slow. Messaged the seller a week after I ordered it to see when they were going to ship it. They responded immediately and said it would be shipped out soon. Got it about a week later. Book did arrive in the date range that they provided though Minimal packaging. Book is Shrink wrapped and only wrapped in thin plastic. No bubble wrap. Book is in good shape though.
