Almost perfect.
This is a good buy for anyone who likes movies. Temple's early films are almost all quite fine and this is almost a complete collection. The first thing I did after receiving it was check all the disks for functionality, because I read reviews that said they got bad disks that didn't work. Either they didn't know how to use a DVD or I am one of the lucky majority without that problem, because they all work for me. The Little Colonel had some trouble and gave me errors about damaged media, but I re-seated the disk and then it worked. Susanna of the Mounties also had some trouble, but ran through without needing to be re-seated. I am happy. I am dissappointed that Stand up and Cheer is in B/W, but I suppose it is understandable. Stowaway, however, has been expertly colorized, yet the one you get in this set is -ONLY B/W-. So I'm still looking for a colorized Stowaway DVD. Wee Willie Winkie and Young People are also in B/W. With the exception of those four films, the whole set is in nice, vibrant color. Also about Wee Willie Winkie, it is labeled quite unintuitively. That one is on a double-sided disk (both sides shiny, no graphics/label side). One side for B/W version, the other side for tinted. You would think they have each side labeled for what is on it, but instead each side is labeled for what is on the opposite side. So, when you want to watch side A, you put it into your DVD drive with side B facing down. I know it sounds weird, but that's how they did it. Both sides worked for me though, so no problems there. The videos are in good resolution, but still have the original film grain. In fact, I think the high resolution only makes the grain even more noticeable. I know the technology necessary for filtering out film grain was available long before March 2014 (when this was published), so why on earth they didn't clean the grain off the image when they captured it is beyond me, but the picture is otherwise as clear as it will ever get, and I'm sure the company selling the DVDs had nothing to do with capturing the video from it's original film. The menus are designed poorly, and you may have some trouble with them if you intend to play these movies on your computer. A DVD player hooked up to your TV will probably not have any problem, because the nature of the issue is poorly configured menu item hot-spots. I totally recommend this, however be aware that it does NOT have Poor Little Rich Girl or Little Miss Marker. With those and the colorized Sotwaway, the would be a perfect collection of Temple's first few years in film.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Shirley Temples Little Darling Collection
This collection features 18 of Shirley Temples best movies. Way back during the depression hollywood was looking for performers to entertain the people to cheer them up during the trying times. They come across this tiny little girl that can sing and dance her little heart out! The movies she made were entertaining for all audiences. Her movies had lots of great stars from that era. Great set.
Had wanted this collection when it came out but it cost too much for me at the time. Was so glad to find this used set at a great price. Love it. SUBMIT TO THE CHARMS OF THE 30'S
A WHITE CHICKEN STOOD TALL ON THE RAILS OF THE PICKETFENCELINE. THE WHITE CHICKEN WAS IN COLOUR AND HAS A RED CREST. THIS ADDITION THAT WAS DROPPED INTO THE MOVIE IS TYPICAL OF THE EARLY EIGHTIES WHEN WHITE CHICKENS WERE EVERYWHERE. TODAY THERE ARE FEW TAP DANCERERS AND FEWER AUDIENCED CHILD AND ADULT ALIKE VISIONS THAT ARE GIVEN TO A LEARNED PEOPLE. Shirley is GREAT
It's always fun to watch Little Shirley's "timeless" acting and great entertainment. They will never make wonderful heart-warming films like these again. Today youths should watch these shows to see wonderful characters display love, honor, respect toward their fellow citizens. Today's "modern" TV shows & films have none of the above. Its now all filthy language, crude sexual situations, and just down-right mean-spirited actors with zero talent. Classic fun. Incredible price
There's nothing like a Shirley Temple movie. Old fashioned, innocent, and corney, yet so much fun. Yes, there is racism that will make you cringe, but something transcends all that. The 4 movies with Bill "Bojangles" Robinson are worth the price alone. No one has topped his skills in the art of tap dancing. America's little Darling
If you have never seen a Shirley Temple film, you are missing out. Mind you this is from the 40s I believe for the most part; however, Shirley was a very talented little girl and stole America's heart. Shirley Temple Little Darling Collection.
It appears that oId DVDs are not made top quality anymore. We have started with the old ones, and there is a good bit of jumping, skipping, etc. These were brand new, so the dealer has nothing to do with the quality. Maybe the later ones will play better. Little Darlings
The Shirley Temple Little Darling Collection was new,, as advertised. The kids have only had a chance to watch one movie (2 times) and another 1 time. The second movie lost quality about half way through the DVD. I saw that movie do the same thing on TV about 40 years ago (saw a good copy 20 years before that!) - so I don't think the problem was specifically with this set, unless they just bought those already decaying DVDs. Love, Love, Love them!!!!!
Growing up I always loved Shirley Temple movies. Now that I'm much older I appreciate the innocence of the themes and content. I am not at all afraid for my grandchildren to pop one of these movies in during Friday late night movies and popcorn. There are even some movies included that I've never seen.
