Reviews"My friend J. Warner Wallace is one of the most thoughtful and winsome apologists for the gospel I know. Cold-Case Christianity is literally packed with insights to share with the skeptics in your life, and this book will give you the confidence to share it!" - Dr. Rick Warren, author of The Purpose-Driven Life and pastor of Saddleback Church, "Cold-Case Christianity is a fantastic book. I wish I had this resource when I first examined the Christian faith. It would have answered many of my questions and helped set me on the track to truth." - Josh McDowell, speaker and author of Evidence That Demands a Verdict, "Cold-Case Christianity offers a fresh approach to biblical fact-finding that actually makes apologetics fun! I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the evidence that backs up the Christian faith, whether you're a skeptic, a spiritual seeker, or a committed believer. Everyone will benefit from reading J. Warner Wallace's powerful new book." -Mark Mittelberg, author of The Questions Christians Hope No One Will Ask (with answers) and coauthor of Becoming a Contagious Christian, "What happens when an atheist cop takes the same forensic skills he uses to solve the toughest crimes--homicides with a trail that's been cold for decades--and applies them to the eyewitness testimony and circumstantial evidence for the life of Jesus of Nazareth? A fascinating new approach to the question of gospel credibility, that's what. Cold-Case Christianity is simply the most clever and compelling defense I've ever read for the reliability of the New Testament record. Case closed." - Gregory Koukl, president of Stand to Reason and author of Tactics: A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions, "My friend Jim Wallace was an angry atheist for 35 years until he walked through the doors of Saddleback Church. There his life was radically changed by Jesus. Today, Jim is one of the most thoughtful and winsome apologists for the Gospel I know. Cold Case Christianity is literally packed with insights to share with the skeptics in your life and this book will give you the confidence to share it!" SynopsisWritten by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a "cold case": it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. A unique apologetic that speaks to readers' intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity., Written by an L. J. Warner Wallace knows what that's like. For the first thirty-five years of his life, he was a devout atheist. But when he decided to apply his skills as a detective to the claims of the New Testament he came to a startling realization: the case for Christianity was as convincing as any case he'd ever worked as a detective. A unique apologetic, Cold-Case Christianity will give you new confidence in Christ and a renewed passion for articulating the case for Christianity.

  • If you find it hard to believe this will make it easy.

Written from an investigators perspective. The first section is a little tedious as you learn to evaluate evidence but it is well worth it. For those who believe but wish there was a logical explanation and proof of the existence of God and the truth of Christ and the resurrection. Here it is. For those who don't believe. Caution! This may effect your deeply held bias.

  • Faith Validation

I love this book. I've always believed based upon my upbringing; Thomas the Apostle believed because he saw with his own eyes, but blessed are those who did not see but yet still believe. Mr. Wallace puts together such as logical case for Christ that now it is easy to believe, not based upon faith but based upon facts and logical conclusion based upon the evidence. This is a great book to read again and again so a Christian can easily defend their faith.

  • Powerful argument for Christianity that skeptics will find compelling

J Warner Wallace is a retired homicide detective with decades of experience working cold cases, i.e., unsolved cases in which the murder occurred long ago and with few or no living eyewitnesses. He creates a circumstantial case for Christianity by showing that: 1. The Gospels and other New Testament books were written relatively early and close to the alleged event of the Resurrection. 2. Many of the events recorded in the New Testament are corroborated by archaeology and secular first-century writers. 3. The claims made about Jesus didn't change over time and were accurately preserved. 4. The apostles had no motivate for lying, such as financial gain, sexual lust, etc. Wallace methodically examines alternative explanations for Christianity (such as a conspiracy, mass hallucination, an impostor fooled the apostles, Jesus didn't really die, etc.) and explains in detail why they're unreasonable. Wallace is thoroughly honest and admits every explanation for the rise of Christianity has strengths and weaknesses. He argues that a supernatural Resurrection is the simplest explanation but has one major drawback - it requires belief in the supernatural. We should not, however, presuppose that supernatural miracles are impossible prior to investigation, since this presupposition will bias our investigation of the evidence. Determining if a supernatural event even occurred is the very thing we are investigating, we cannot assume this is impossible prior to investigation.

  • Don't give up on it.

I'm always looking for a book that will hold my interest. When I started reading it I thought it was too simplistic. I picked it up and put it down several times. But give it a chance - It really does have some wonderful unique insights that only a detective would notice. He really does live up to his reputation, and he turns over EVERY rock. Great book.

  • Any doubts in the accuracy of God's word will disappear as you read Wallace's books!

I know that the word of God is historically, archaeologically, scientifically, and prophetically accurate, and this book [along with Wallace's other books] are phenomenal tools for those who do not yet have that confidence in the Bible. I highly recommend his books for ALL Christians, as it is time for us to grow beyond 'feeling' the Bible is true, to KNOWING the Bible is FACT. For those who doubt the accuracy of the Bible...Wallace's books are for YOU! In Christ, dana

  • Cold-Case Christianity

Fantastic book from a hard-boiled atheist detective who could have found every reason not to become a Christian . . . but discovered every reason to love and trust God. Right up there with Lee Strobel. Clear on every point for every reader, especially ones intent on tearing God down.

  • very informative

Very good explanation of how investigations are done and the pit falls when investigations are not done properly. I already being a believer really enjoyed the book. I think a nonbeliever with an open mind would benefit greatly from this read.
