The son of a theology professor at Western Seminary in Pittsburgh, Robinson Jeffers was taught Greek, Latin, and Hebrew as a boy, and spent three years in Germany and Switzerland before entering the University of Western Pennsylvania (now Pittsburgh) at fifteen.
