Bloody Fun
Since this was a different take on the run-of-the-mill vampire movies, it "sucked" me into the story right away and held my interest until the end. The acting was decent, not Oscar worthy because the plot didn't lend itself to a wide range of emotions, but the actors did the job nicely. Blood and guts, especially at the end, round out the story for die-hard blood-thirsty fans, in addition to an actual plot. Sometimes vampire movies are too simplistic and the vampires just go around wreaking havoc. That was the case here as well - can't get away from that aspect if you're telling a vampire story - but the William Defoe and Ethan Hawke characters (as good guys) were "fleshed out" enough to make one care what happens, as well as Sam O'Neill's portrayal of the bad guy. All in all, a fun romp into a possible future world of humans and vampires.
