  • Not Bad but...

First I ordered this lense used from someone in Hawaii and it arrived at my place in about 4 days So that was excellent. Packaged well and secure. Pros: The lense is does a very good job with Depth of Field photographs (where the subject is in the foreground and the background is blurred). So you can get creative with this lense. It's relatively light and easy to use. Auto focus works well (a little noise but not annoying). It's a very good walkabout lense especially if you can get it used. Cons: The only thing I do not like about the lense is if you carry it over your shoulder the lense will drop/extend on it's own. I wish it was less sensitive to gravity. It's not a rugged lense for that reason. Recommendations: If you are a budding amateur/enthusiast photographer this is a very good lense to have on your camera to hande most subjects.

  • Basic multipurpose low end professional lens

I've had one of these lens for over 6 years and put it on new bodys. I've shoot over 100,000 images with one of these so I call it my point and shoot lens. Macro abilities are predictable and easy to get close in shots. The only time I've had questionable performance with it was shooting NHRA from the starting line. The sonic boom vibrated the motors and the picture was lost. After talking to Canon reps, I learned that what I tried to capture was nearly impossible and I could try with any of their lens at their cost in the professional program. otherwise a great lens I recommend to everyone. • Good lens but noisy IS

Optically the lens is average to good, the autofocus is very fast with minimal hunting. The IS mechanism is noisy and emits an unnerving rattling sound. The build quality of this lens is average and feels as if the slightest knock could render it inoperable. Handle with extreme caution. The focal range is useful and will probably cover most casual photography needs, but the caveat must be the flimsy build quality Having said that, the truth is that for most general photographers , the optical quality is more than capable of yielding satisfactory images.

  • Good all-around lens

This is the type of lens I've been looking for. I needed something I could use for things that were close to me but also have the ability to zoom in on things. This lens met all of my expectations for that, and it was less expensive than other lenses I've looked at. The only thing about this lens is that it doesn't perform the best in low-light and yes, it does slide out when it's facing downward. It's not too much of an issue and depending on the pace I'm walking with it either hanging off my shoulder or around my neck, I'll just hold onto it. But even with it sliding all the way out, it's secure and completely fine. I love the lens and it takes beautiful pictures. I'm using the lens with a Canon Rebel T5.

  • Good all rounder

This lens is great for that special close up (not macro) and zooming out to get that difficult large group shot. It is the perfect lens for wedding photography. The only down side is it doesn't have a lens lock, which means you have to be careful when handling the camera as the lens tends to slide out, its a small problem and does not detract from the great quality and usefulness of an all rounder lens

  • A good lens

A good working lens at a reasonable price, fast, and silent. Recommended I bought this for a brand new Canon 5D Mk III. I wanted the extra reach that the 135mm lens would give me [and the cheaper price]. 30mm, I grant you, but 30mm is 30mm, but it turns out that the F/4 part is really important for the AF of the 5D Mk III. That aside I don't regret the purchase of the 28-135mm lens. It still fits the AF neatly, and the USM is fast and accurate. The IS cool too. It takes a while to get used to any new lens, and it has taken me a while to grow into this one, but I think I have, and I'm not disappointed.

  • Canon EF 28-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM lens

This zoom lens covers a useful range of 28-135mm. It has a metal based mount and is quite solidly made. The lens takes a 72 mm filter, and is image stabilized (IS). The pictures came out sharp and clear, and I like the lens for its performance, especially with the price range. For people who are not professional photographers, this lens is great and is highly recommended.

  • for me this is a must have lens

A very versatile go anywhere and do most things lens This lens goes with me everywhere it's always on the camera with my other lenses in the camera bag if needed. The images are sharp with a good aperture too, the weight is comfortable. A smooth zoom and fast autofocus with manual override makes photography a real easy pleasure, also this lens doesn't break the bank either.

  • Lightweight all purpose

It may end up going to Canon for a tweak, because it should be sharper than it is, but as a cheap solution for hiking etc, this will do. With it's 28-135 focal length. it cuts down on a lot of excess glass. Rather than take the really expensive, work dependent stuff on personal trips, this is OK.

  • Canon 28-135 3.5-5.6 IS Canon

Excellent lens for the price. Very Clean and Sharp image for a F3.5 lens. Quite, Using on a 5ds and 50 megapixels looks better through this lens then other F3.5 models. Image stabilization is necessary to walk and take pictures on my camera (set minimum shutter to 1/250sec) and this does a nice job. Hopefully Canon will soon make in-body stabilization, but until then, this works. Gave 4 stars because f2.8 is better. "DXO mark" shows lots of green. its true.
