Does exactly as advertised!
I purchased this adaptor primarily to allow me to mount my Sony A-mount 70-300G lens onto my new Sony A7II E-mount camera. Yes, I'd say autofocus is a bit slow, but the test shots I took turned out well, and I plan to use this setup for mostly landscape related photos, so the autofocus speed isn't all that important. If you have A-mount lenses that you like, and have upgraded to one of the new Sony E-mount cameras, it's a no brainer purchase, at least until you've replaced your A-mount lenses with E-mount specific ones. Do your research though between the LAEA3 and the LAEA4 adaptor. The "3" is good if you have lenses with built in SAM or SSM motors, if not, they won't autofocus. The "4" will autofocus with any of the autofocus A-mount lenses as this adaptor (4) has it's own autofocus motor built into the adaptor (which is why it's bigger and more expensive), but it also loses a small stop of light due to the SLT mirror in the "4" version. You can not use any A-mount to E-mount without this.
Here is the deal. The LA-EA4 Adapter is for lens without AF and older Minlota Lens. You gain some AF functions with the LA-EA4 but with the LA-EA3 you have full function of the B&W AF ( legacy AF ) not night time AF. If SONY was smart enough they would make a proper 70-400mm lens for the E-mount instead they force us to borrow a lens from the A-mount series. This is the only lens that I really use this for and I have no regrets at all. This adapter can break over time with usage or even in storage. It is a random breakage. My previous adapter can work but no longer functions due to a bad fall. The one I brought functions but is showing behavior of not functioning. Forcing me to refocus. Otherwise great adapter but it is a random break. Again my original one took a bad fall. Thank gosh the adapter stop functioning and not the lens. Again SONY on purposely does not make a proper 50-350mm lens with super fast speed. I mean they can do it but nope not SONY. awesome with the a7ii
excellent adapter.. perfect for use with a7ii and a7rii with on sensor phase detect with new sony alpha mount lenses.. only works with SSM and SAM lens... does not autofocus with older minolta screwdrive lenses... for that u'll need the LAEA4 adapter... i own the LAEA4 as well, and the zeiss 24-70 f2.8 focus ALOT faster and better on the LAEA3 on the a7ii than with the LAEA4. I wish sony would allow the LAEA4 adapters to use to on sensor phase detect points as well. the LAEA4 is slower because it uses only 9 phase detect points in the adapter.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

So many more options
Love this adapter. Bought it so that I could buy ‘legacy’ lenses to work on my Sony A6000. With brand name lenses costing as much as they do its nice to have the option to buy some older glass to play around with. This is a better design than some other converters.
The e-mount is a design lacking the reinforcement the a-mount big cameras had, and it does NOT well support a long, heavy lens when it is on the tripod with the locking screw in the normal camera position. Most really heavy lenses have their own tripod mount so the lightweight camera hangs on the back, but some of the better glass in a-mount is short, does not have a tripod mount on it, and is really too much leverage for the lightweight camera. This model has a heavy, strong collar for the conversion with a tripod mount on the converter, so it allows the use of the older, heavier lense without danger or damage to the camera. If you have some of the old, great glass, and really want to use it this is the adapter that helps protect the camera. .Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Very good adaptor
Got Sony a6000 camera and then purchased a sigma lens. Seller don't know that lens was incompatible with camera. But researched and purchased this adaptor. Works like charm. Works as advertised
