The durrable dumper
My recently purchased LIONEL 3459 ore dump car is an excellent example of the strength and durability of this manufacturers products. Even though it showed the wear of its 68 years of age, it was still complete and was fully operational after a bit of realignment. I have several examples of this particular item, most of them in full working condition, which says a lot for the sturdiness of its design and quality of manufacture. This particular unit needed some "unbending" of its cargo body but this was a task that was easily performed. These dumping ore cars are not complicated in their design or flimsy in their construction. In my years of collecting and operating, I have come across some rather rough examples of destructive use, but even the most heavily worn dumpers usually respond to the basic rehab techniques. Replacement parts are still fairly available and the installation of same is quite easy. Of the many examples of operating rolling stock manufactured by LIONEL, the 3459 and 3469 ore dump cars are the best, in my estimation. Just don't load them up with sand; that's about the only load that should be avoided in these sturdy dumpers.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Two different kinds of the silver ore dump car
3459 silver ore dump car is a very hard piece to find for collectors today, it was made in 1946,47 and 48. there are two variations of the car. The first one is in my opinion is the hardest to find and it was made in 1946 and had some carry over to 1947. What makes it vary hard to find is that the silver tray is unpainted alumiinun while the 1947 and 48 were painted silver and are more common. The car makes a very nice display piece especially when you have the original box, insert , instruction sheet and speckled 160 tray. Resurrected an older Lionel dump car.
