"An early English translation . . . has been far surpassed by the sparkling new one by Michael Katz, who has ably translated several works of Russian radical fiction." -- New York Review of Books, An early English translation . . . has been far surpassed by the sparkling new one by Michael Katz, who has ably translated several works of Russian radical fiction., "Expertly introduced and translated, Pale Horse takes its place for English-language readers in a Russian tradition of novels about radical intellectuals that stretches from Turgenev and Dostoevsky to Bely and writers of the early Soviet period. Its characters are as ambiguous as Savinkov himself -- terrorist and confessional writer, Social Revolutionary and proto-fascist. Essential reading for anyone interested in Russian modernism or in the terrorist mentality." -- William Mills Todd III, Harvard University, "For anyone interested in the psychology of terrorism, in the morality of killing for a cause, or in the seductive thrill of extreme situations, this novel, written by a prominent terrorist will prove fascinating. Expertly translated and annotated by Michael Katz, it brings to life disturbing and complex questions often overlooked by those who romanticize (or dismiss) revolutionary violence." -- Gary Saul Morson, Northwestern University, "In his thinly-disguised autobiographical work, the Socialist Revolutionary assassin and later anti-Bolshevik activist Boris Savinkov provides fascinating insight into the psychology and motivations of socialist terrorists in prerevolutionary Russia. The book is a valuable resource for anyone wishing to understand the revolutionary underground in Russia at this time." -- William G. - n***m (110)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufGood price for the book. Shipping was slow. Messaged the seller a week after I ordered it to see when they were going to ship it. They responded immediately and said it would be shipped out soon. Got it about a week later. Book did arrive in the date range that they provided though Minimal packaging. Book is Shrink wrapped and only wrapped in thin plastic. No bubble wrap. Book is in good shape though.
- c***t (923)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufThe book I bought was reasonably priced and when it arrived it was in the 'Like New' condition specified in the listing. However, when I saw that the seller had not shipped the book after more than 15 days had passed since my order I felt I must write to say that I had actually placed an order with the seller and inquire when it planned to send the book. The brusque reply was that a tracking number was available, but no number HAD been created until I pointed out that I had placed the order.Catland by Hughes, Kathryn, Like New Used, Free shipping in the US (Nr. 356798982438)
