    The book was exactly as described and arrived quickly. The only problem is a recurring one with this seller and other similar sellers - the book is poorly packaged in a plastic envelope and gets heavily bumped in shipping. I would like to see the books wrapped before shipment, but I understand this can't be done for cost reason. Luckily it isn't an expensive book, and I will continue to purchase basic books from this seller. A+++++

    Review of Thomas Ward Custer

    Enjoyed the book. Provided an insight into the Custer family from another perspective other than that of George Armstrong Custer. Tom is certainly the middle brother, despite his own accomplishments, he feels the overshadowing of big brother George. Gives an insight of army life, beyond the John Wayne version, extremely hard life with little gratitude received. Great depiction of the daily life of the time period. Great suffering of the Custer family.

    Only if you want just the facts, ma’am

    While I suppose you can’t blame the author for a paucity of biographical material sources, and I add this book to my Custer collection, it was slim pickings in the content and writing style. I’d hoped for better!

    Basic level book on the Custers and their inner circle of friends and favorites.

    The book was an easy read and a decent book for someone new to the study of George Custer. I have read countless volumes dealing with the Little Bighorn battle. This book brought some light to the relationship between George and brother Tom. It had a few anecdotes that I may have missed in other volumes. It was rather light in the bibliography department and referred to several of the same works. I would have liked to see a little more research cited. All in all, not a bad read.
