If you like a little comedy with your heavenly host...
This was one of the funniest and most fun books I've ever read! If you are devout in your belief and spoiling for a fight, this one might not be for you. If however you have a sense of humor and don't mind a little fun being poked at Jesus (and friends), this is quite the enjoyable romp. And if you aren't particularly religious or if you aren't up on your Christian beliefs, you may want to keep Wikipedia nearby to help explain some of the background jokes. Regardless, I don't think you can go wrong with this joyful endeavor from Christopher Moore about the missing years in the life Jesus of Nazareth. Almost from page 1 there is humor that will make you laugh out loud. The story is at times insightful, wise, inventive, and downright adventurous! Mr. Moore tells an engaging story with a main character who is known to most people, but takes him on an engaging thrill ride that many would not expect. He takes a character who is understood to be divine and infuses him with humanity and humor! If you only have one book by Christopher Moore, this is it.

A Very Wise, and Funny Story
Christopher Moore has written a book that will make you laugh, ache, and think. "Lamb" is the story of Jesus Christ from the age of 12-30, as told by his best friend Biff (a "good Jewish boy"). The book explores the humanity of Jesus, as he deals with the perils of adolescence in 1st century Israel. You will meet his mom, Mary, who struggles with the knowledge that her son has a greater mission, and the fact that the community thinks she is a few falafels short of a picnic basket. "Lamb" is a well-researched sideways take on a very old tale.
Christopher Moore turns the Bible on its head in a surprisingly respectful and thoughtful satire of the life of one of the most controversial figures in history. It may be too salty for some, but it's a refreshing take that makes him much more human. This special edition in leather is gorgeous, and has its own place on my shelf. And it's signed! Beautifully bound edition of a great book!
This is one of my husband's favorite books, and mine as well! I purchased it as a gift for him, and it is just beautiful. I can't wait to surprise him with it. I'm sure he'll love it. Love it
Lamb is one of the funniest books ever. I bought two of the signed copies for people with senses of humor similar to mine (i.e. irreverent and twisted). This edition is so beautiful and worth saving that I'm going to have to get one for myself!
