This sharpener is the same model I used to have—including all through art school—and I gave it away to a friend.
Lately I've begun using lead pencils again, so I really wanted to get the same one again. This Panasonic pencil sharpener is the gold standard and I love it. It shipped in good condition, with just a few cosmetic blemishes that were pointed out in the original photos.
It does one thing and does it well: it only sharpens the standard diameter of pencil. I'll gladly use a manual sharpener on my thicker pencils.
After buying several different styles of so-called heavy duty electric pencil sharpeners over the past few years, I finally found one that really works. Makes pencils consistently needle sharp with the lead perfectly centered. And it has the sturdiness and heft of a serious office accessory instead of a cheaply built imported child's toy. Don't know why present day manufacturers choose to no longer make such a quality product. So my purchase of this vintage masterpiece was truly a tremendous value.
Best Vintage Pencil Sharpener - Panasonic (Pana) Auto Stop
Awesome pencil sharpener. Panasonic pencil sharpeners, especially vintage from the 1980s, like this one, are the best due to stronger A/C motor (instead of DC), larger sharpening blades, metal gears for most of them. It sharpens to a perfect point every time.
