C'mon Mr Hanks. You're so much better than this!!!
Although Tom Hanks has been my favorite actor for decades (I purchase everything he does), The Post was as bad as Tom's hair piece! WOW, hard to believe I just wrote that... I don't know why Tom is so infatuated with doing space, religious, especially political and war movies lately?!?! Don't get me wrong. Some 'were' great! Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan, etc. But, there's only been a handful of movies that he's done that I've truly enjoyed since The Terminal... And they were great! Sully was his 'last' great one... Hanks and Streep at their best.
I don't know just what it is about this movie that sucks you in and has you clinging to your seat. But it is exciting. And you feel like you are the winner against "the MAN". Outstanding cast. Hanks and Streep are equally great in their characters. (As they usually are!) It's an event I lived through, but either was too young to care at the time or just don't remember.
