I wanted to use it for parts to build up an original 1964 edition of the same kit by the same company but this was not possible. The body of the car and related red parts are a different brighter red color. This is just a "heads up" for other original kit collectors or builders. The other odd thing is the clear plastic roof bubble was in perfect condition in the opened 1964 kit but in the opened 2000 kit the clear plastic was marred and will require polishing to make it acceptable for use.
This is a replica model of the 1998 Corvette in the true color it was painted. It is plastic and pretty durable if you choose to let the Grand kids play with it. Although, that is not the purpose of why GM made them. The product is more a collectible item than a toy.
