Product Information

Electronic Arts continues their exclusive relationship with the cinematic versions of J.R.R. Tolkien's famous trilogy with the release of The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. In this combat game based on the third film by Peter Jackson, players will fight legions of orcs and other creatures from a third-person perspective with such heroes as Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas and more. Following the same structure as its action-oriented predecessor, players will wield swords, axes, daggers, and bows to fight multiple enemies simultaneously. Featured locales include Minas Tirith, Mount Doom, and more, with each environment offering multiple tiers or planes to travel across. Now characters will be able to jump and climb, enabling them to interact with their surroundings to a greater degree. Film composer Howard Shore's epic score punctuates the battles as the original cast provides the voice acting. The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King also features a number of film clips used as segues to the game's action scenes.

A blast to play again
I loved playing this game as a teen when it came out, gameplay is great, no disc reading issues, and all around fun nostalgic trip

Poor quality disc
Game randomly stops working past the first level, it will crash if you try to open some of the special feature items.

It's not a game, it's a lifestyle.
This game was my favorite growing up, and I still consider it the best video game from a movie to ever grace this earth. The ability to unleash the wrath of Aragorn on the evil orcs is a feeling that cannot be matched by anything of this earth. My hands still tremble as I feel the power coursing through Gandalf's staff in righteous rage against the armies of darkness. Legolas' arrows still fly with the holy and unhindered velocity I remember as a child. Samwise Gamgee's loyalty still brings me to tears as I fight through the webs and mandibles of the wicked spiders to defeat Shelob and save Frodo. Gimli still causes my controller to quake with every thundering blow of his mighty axe. The droves of Sauron's foot-soldiers stood no chance against my experience and skill from years of training as a young boy. The ability to thwart the malicious will of Sauron is not only a privilege, but a responsibility I felt the need to fulfill. I am proud to say, I have saved Middle Earth, not once, not twice, but fifteen times in my years of experiencing this game. In the wise words of Aragorn, son of Arathorn, "Gondor calls for aid". I must answer the call once again.

Great game. Local co-op or single player!
This is a great classic game and it has co-op which is amazing! It’s a little more difficult than “the two towers”

Flawless
Not a scratch to be found, the manual intact. The game works perfectly, and is just as fun as the one time I got to rent it from Blockbuster.
