Godfather of Southern Blues/Rock
I first heard the Allman Brothers in 1970... They were one of the acts appearing at the Fillmore East Show in New York.. To say they stood out from the other entertainers would be an understatement.. They were spectacular. I was deeply affected when Duane died. Being a motorcyclist myself, it had a bearing on how I rode in the future. When Gregg and the group decided to continue performing despite missing Duane's guitar work, that even Clapton was captivated by, was great news for all of the ABB fans. I have collected eleven albums of the ABB and also Gregg's solo work over the years...and Laid Back is one of my favs. 'Please Call Home' and 'Multi-Colored Lady' will impress any dedicated blues fan. If you don't have this album, you are definitely missing one of the key ingredients of the Allman experience. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of 'Southern Blood', the last of Gregg's albums,..but as long as I have some kind of player at my disposal, the Allmans will be blasting from my residence.. God Bless Gregg... R I P !!
