Looking to study with the best!
I am presently in the American Baptist Churches of New York State Lay Ministry Certificaion Course. I have purchased a number of significant Study Bibles for study and comparison work as well as around forty other well-authored classics for my work. I purchased BASIC THEOLOGY by Charles C. Ryrie because I had been advised he was one of the best in the field. My heart has really yielded to him. Don't be afraid of stretching out your mind to Jesus Christ our Lord. The systematic guide to understanding Biblical truth will never fail you. Ryrie says everything better. He is not flowery to impress. He cuts to the Work and, in doing so, shows you a way to understanding that will open up a whole new teaching method that will open you to the mind of God.

Well Organized and Easy to Track With
Ryrie is just one face in a crowd of solid theologians who have produced systematic theologies, but the ease with which a beginner can track with this sets his Basic Theology apart from most others. The writing is clear and concise and presented in an orderly, well-organized manner. Complex theological truths are distilled down to their biblical roots and explained, alongside competing views, with clarity. Whether for adult Sunday school, training future church leaders, or personal growth and edification, this is an outstanding resource.

Great for laypersons
For a layperson attempting to gain basic knowledge of theology, this book is great. Ryrie has broken down the major biblical themes into bite-sized pieces with the major bible verses included. If a person wants a general understanding of theology to use in conversations, knowledge, etc., this is a good place to start. After reading this book, I decided to order his more detailed Theology works because I am studying to be a Biblical Counselor. This would be a good bible study for a Sunday School class or small group study.

HIGHLY RESPECTED THEOLOGIAN
BASIC THEOLOGY by Charles Ryrie, is a masterpiece of orderly setting forth of biblical truth. I have not run across a volume that equals it in making complex Christian Doctrinal issues, and deep Theological issues, understandable to the reader who has some Bible and Christian background and applies himself or herself.

Excellent basic theology
This is an excellent basic theology for either the lay person or for a college student. It is not exhaustive or complete as the fuller theology books are. But it will provide a good working knowledge of most areas of theology. It is written from a dispensational point of view which in my understanding is the correct way of interpreting Scripture.

Great for deeper understanding of doctrines
When it is not easy for a student to write doctrinal statements it is very helpful to see a complete visual aid to guide them along. Not only is C.C. Ryrie well-versed in theology, but his argument for his beliefs are soundly relayed throughout this book. If a student is unsure what they really believe they will find this easy- to-follow manual very helpful in discovering their own belief-system.
