Two decades ago a dear friend made the following comment to me over dinner: "We hold that eternal life is the gift of God apart from works, by grace through faith alone, but that inheritance of the kingdom will be a reward according to works." However, my friend's statement so arrested me that I began to study diligently in order to see if the Bible would confirm that this view is according to Christ.
