Spinelli adroitly balances emotional tension with introspective moments in this smart and funny story., Spinelli is a poet of the prepubescent…Nobody is better than Spinelli when it comes to creating the grade-school world of qualified innocence--and treading a fine line between challenge and reassurance., Spinelli's hallmark issues—individuality, nonconformity, alienation, standing up for the little guy—figure prominently, and the messages are convincingly worked into the story., Spinelli is a poet of the prepubescent...Nobody is better than Spinelli when it comes to creating the grade-school world of qualified innocence--and treading a fine line between challenge and reassurance., Spinelli is a poet of the prepubescent…Nobody is better than Spinelli when it comes to creating the grade-school world of qualified innocence-and treading a fine line between challenge and reassurance., Spinelli's hallmark issues--individuality, nonconformity, alienation, standing up for the little guy--figure prominently, and the messages are convincingly worked into the story., Spinelli's hallmark issues-individuality, nonconformity, alienation, standing up for the little guy-figure prominently, and the messages are convincingly worked into the story., Each character is portrayed with emotional subtlety and conviction, while their juxtaposed viewpoints bring the energy of opposing forces to the story., Spinelli is a poet of the prepubescent…Nobody is better than Spinelli when it comes to creating the grade-school world of qualified innocence—and treading a fine line between challenge and reassurance.

Synopsis
Beloved Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli, author of Maniac Magee and Wringer, addresses issues of identity, belonging, family, and bullying in this humorous and heartfelt novel about twins. Jake and Lily are twins. Despite their slightly different interests and temperaments, they feel exactly the same--like two halves of one person. But the year they turn eleven, everything changes. Their parents announce it's time for separate bedrooms. Jake starts hanging out with a pack of boys on the block. And Lily is devastated, not to mention angry. Who is she without Jake? And as her brother falls under the influence of the neighborhood bully, he also must ask himself--who is the real Jake? In a starred review, Publishers Weekly praised this "smart and funny story." The New York Times Book Review extolled Jerry Spinelli as "a poet of the prepubescent" and added: "Nobody is better than Spinelli when it comes to creating the grade-school world of qualified innocence--and treading a fine line between challenge and reassurance.", Beloved Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli, author of Maniac Magee and Wringer, addresses issues of identity, belonging, family, and bullying in this humorous and heartfelt novel about twins. - r***1 (177)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufThe book was exactly as described and arrived quickly. The only problem is a recurring one with this seller and other similar sellers - the book is poorly packaged in a plastic envelope and gets heavily bumped in shipping. I would like to see the books wrapped before shipment, but I understand this can't be done for cost reason. Luckily it isn't an expensive book, and I will continue to purchase basic books from this seller. A+++++

Nova Classic Volume 2 - Marvel / Paperback - condition & quality look really good, ALMOST NEW even better than described. Shipping was Fast (1 week) / packaging was thin mylar mailer, but no visible damage to book. Great price AND free shipping. I buy here often, and this transaction was flawless. 5 STARSNova Classic Volume 2, David A Kraft (Nr. 277215177308)
- t***2 (167)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufThis was a paperback/softcover 29 year old book I purchased in very good condition as described. However it was delivered in a plain white plastic envelope. They should have at least used a bubble pack lined shipping envelope for protection of the item inside. They should re-think their shipping & packaging strategies, especially with much much older delicate items. Other wise no problems whatsoever with seller. Recommended seller. A+
