Nerve wracking
It was effective, and slackened the immersion element, which required very hefty blows to eventually free - seven strikes with a 2.5 lbs mash hammer before it broke the grip, each blow stronger than the previous one. Any of which could have split the relatively soft copper cylinder. Once it moved that initial one centimetre the rest was easy. It takes a lot of nerve to use such force for a skilled tradesman bearing in mind the fragility of the materials involved, but it had resisted the use of other efforts including the BOX spanner which does not deliver the "sharp impact" through the useless light tommy bar provided and not even with an improved heavier tommy bar. One flaw was the very slack fit of the ring spanner which had to be filled with steel packers.

Good heavy duty spanner
Heard horror stories about removing immersion tank elements, so was concerned when both top and bottom ones had to be replaced. This tool made the job quite easy. It was a good fit on the element nuts and I was able to loosen both elements with a sharp tap with a lump hammer.

A1 wrench built to last!
Purchased to remove an old heating element from a copper heating boiler. Combined with a large club hammer was amazed that it loosened and allowed me to remove the old element in the first few hits without resorting to using heat or damaging the threaded screw seal inside the boiler itself. I realise the item is not cheap, when compared to others out there on the market and possibly may not be used that often, but it does work and work royally! Cannot recommend enough, this tool is built like a tank and will or should last some time if used correctly.

Looks good and strong
Tried removing an old emersion heater with a box key and bent the bar, searched for advice on how to remove and found two plumbers who recommended this. On the same advice sites suggested thermostat could be faulty which in fact it was so replaced, howerver bought this key in case heater goes again.

Very Strong sturdy Spanner.
At this clearance price this is an excellent buy for a very strong sturdy cast metal spanner produced by a reputable plumbing tool manufacturer. Allows a strong purchase on handle to ease a solid immersion element nut.

Works!
Got a cheapie elsewhere but didn't make a dent - so to speak - good few thumps with lump hammer and this one worked a treat! This is a total bargain for plummer and DIYer alike 😀

Very good but not for all
Great quality, strong tool but due to design and thickness doesn't surround properly and slides off those heater nuts that are not sticking out enough. Had to buy the cheaper box ring for.
