An old favourite, but beware!
This is basically a reboot of an old model from the 60s. It has a lot of modern safety tweaks to comply with modern regulations but there are pitfalls. There are 4 tiny missiles that sit where the rear lights are supposed to be, These things are on hair trigger springs supposedly operated by the rear suspension being compressed, however the mechanism is far too sensitive and they they just fire off at random. A right pain in the backside, so I cut them short and glued them in place. There is a similar spring compression system for the front missile behind the flip down grille. This just doesn't work as it will come out so far then jam! Totally hopeless. The canopy slides backwards which whilst that looks good I would imagine will be lost or broken very easily by heavy handed children. There are no instructions showing the system for firing the missiles, i discovered it by trial and error! On display the car looks great, it always did, however I would not recommend it for small children. It comes in a nicely presented box and is well packaged. As a toy though I cannot imagine it would stay intact for long though. For us oldies who saw Thunderbirds on TV when was first aired in the 1960s, It's a nice little bit of nostalgia. FAB 1 CAR!
I've bought this car for my husband as a birthday present. He always mentions that he had the original FAB1, complete with the box when it first came out, but unfortunately, he swapped it for something else with a friend, which he really regrets to this day. The car looks great, with Parker at the wheel and I love the colour pink. So, I know it's not the original, but I think he will like it! :-)Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
