    I sent the seller a friendly request after buying, asking them to please not ship the book in a thin plastic mailer. My message was sent back to me, the seller never saw it or replied. Ebay said that the seller blocks messages. The Book was in fact shipped in a thin plastic mailer. It arrived okay, but sometimes they don't. Bought another book from a different seller at the same time who replied to my message and who ships his books in boxes. Guess who I'll be a repeat buyer with?

    Complete Guide -- and So It Is!

    They stopped teaching sewing in the schools, so now we have a bunch of idiots out there teaching basic sewing online. Any edition of this Reader's Digest complete sewing book is worth its weight -- and it's heavy. With a bit of common sense and careful study, anyone can set up the machine, prewash their fabric, lay it out smooth, make sure the pattern is bigger than the person, and do their own sewing class. The book has special help for fine-tuning fit, working with fabrics like satin and velvet, sewing for kids -- all the way to tailoring that pricey blazer. Yes, it explains hand-stitched buttonholes, machine=made buttonholes, and those fiddly bound buttonholes. There are sections for using a serger, and making curtains -- those fancy floor to ceiling "window treatments" -- all in this ...

    Lots of detailed information

    This book is a must for anyone wanting to learn to sew. I haven’t used a sewing machine in more than 30 years and I desperately needed a refresh. Even though my copy is an older version it still contains the same info as the updated ones.

    An absolute must have for the home seamstress

    I highly recommend the Reader’s Digest Guide to Sewing. It’s very comprehensive and very user-friendly. The illustrations are step by step, easy to follow and understand. This book, in any of its editions, is an absolute must have for the home seamstress!
