The Humax FVP-4000T does everything I wanted it to do.
The Humax FVP-4000T 500GB Freeview Set Top Box is well built and attractive. It is quite small compared to similar products. Going through the set-up process is quick and easy. The remote control and on-screen prompts are faily intuitive and well designed except that the remote's 'Home' button refered to in the User's Manual is labelled 'Freeview' which caused a little confusion on my part. Having said that, the User's Manual is quite comprehensive. The TV Guide is easy to navigate and allows for the viewing of future program information. However, it is difficult to view the program information for programs currently being broadcast. Recording program's is a doddle whether single programs or a series. Playing recordings is also straight forward as is playing recordings saved on a USB memory stick.
I bought the Humax FVP-4000T 500GB Freeview Set Top Box to replace my Humax PVR-9300T. I did this mainly because I could not transfer recordings from the PVR-9300T to view on my PC without removing the hard disc and physically connecting it to my PC. The FVP-4000T boasted a simple wifi network connection for data transfer and as said previously the setup was easy. However, you do need to be computer literate to transfer recordings to the PC, I would recommend using a free program 'VLC media player' to do this. Be prepared to wait. I just transfered a 60 minute program from the FVP-4000T to PC and it took 20 minutes.
In conclusion, the Humax FVP-4000T does everything I wanted it to do. I would recommend it. My experience with Humax products is that they are very reliable and if this Humax lasts as long as my old one (bought in Jan 2009 - still going strong) I will be highly delighted.
