My PEX is protected!
I had 100+ psi in both of my houses before installing pressure reducing valves. The water heater still raised the pressure to almost 90 psi. I knew I needed expansion tanks to protect my PEX. These are exactly the same tanks sold by the big box stores. The detailed instructions answered all my installation questions. They must be pressurized to match the normal water pressure (60 psi for this house). Tank must be on the cold water supply line at least 18 inches from the water heater. They can be installed horizontally or vertically, bladder on top, on bottom, or on side. They must be supported independent of the plumbing (code where I live). Fairly simple installation. My pressure problems are solved.
