Synopsis
Tarot has long been a medium for artists to share striking, memorable artwork laden with symbolism, storytelling, and personal meaning. Join five incredible artists as they explore their own unique visions of tarot, reimagining the iconic foundations laid by Arthur Edward Waite and Pamela Colman Smith. See how a deck of seventy-eight beautiful cards is illustrated, from The Fool's journey through the Major Arcana to the elemental Swords, Cups, Wands, and Pentaclcs, starting with rough sketches and finishing with inspiring full-colour designs. With an introduction and insights by the world-renowned tarot expert Sasha Graham, and over 280 pages of lavishly presented cards, An Artist's Guide to Tarot is sure to delight anyone interested in fantasy illustration, folklore, and the rich, vibrant world of tarot., This mystical book explores the otherworldly art of tarot cards, interpreted by a selection of talented professional artists. For centuries, Tarot has received stigma from communities around the world. The stereotype is an easy one to envision: a wizened woman with kohled eyes and clinking bangles, wanting to read your future from a deck of painted cards. However, most modern tarot enthusiasts today come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures around the world, and artists in particular have become fascinated by the mythical imagery of the cards. Tarot started out as a popular card game in fifteenth-century Italy, used for bringing the subconscious to the conscious; a way of espying the players' deepest thoughts and desires. Whether you view it to be a spiritual or scientific tool, there's no denying its popularity. You need only look to Kickstarter for confirmation, which sees tarot cards dominating the Art section's 'Trending' page. Popular artists have also jumped on board with this growing trend, including big names like Djamila Knopf, Abigail Larson, and most recently Guweiz with his successful crowd-funded book campaign. Each item shown in traditional-tarot artwork has a specific meaning, and the contributing artists showcase their own interpretation while guiding the reader through their thought process and stylistic choices. The book also features an insightful introduction from best-selling New York author Sasha Graham, who is a world-renowned tarot expert. Finally, there's a gallery of tarot-card art created by successful artists in the recent past. The result is a special, keepsake art book that combines an intriguing glimpse of the history of tarot with inspiring, artist-led design tutorials and a stunning selection of tarot art., This mystical book explores the otherworldly art of tarot cards, interpreted by a selection of talented professional artists. - r***k (92)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufAAA+++ Book arrived on time & undamaged. Could have been protected by a box but came came shipped in bubble shipping slip. Lucky I guess. As advertised used but in like new condition. Sells else where for around $100.00 locally. Price was worth the chance. Collection book for my wife & made her happy. Would buy again but hope for better packing for a hard cover book. Quick shipping
- m***m (14)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufShipped promptly and packed up securely. All books are in great condition. The box part of the box set looks like it may have come apart and was taped up on one of the upper corners. Not a big deal to me and the box still fits all the books securely, but the taping was not mentioned in the description. Would have been disappointing if I was looking for a box set that looked like it was in mint or near mint condition.
