A Film the Whole Family Can Enjoy
If you've ever wondered what Jesus' childhood was like, this film will give you a wonderful insight. It begins with Herod's order to kill all the boys up to two years old in Nazareth, follows the family as they flee to Egypt, and their eventual return to Nazareth and concludes with the finding of Jesus in the Temple. The film is almost painfully cautious about avoiding any preachiness or making it just another "religious" movie. Instead it tells the story of the boy who grew up to become the man who forever changed the history of the world. Sean Bean portrays the Roman centurion who has been charged by Herod with finding the child--and killing him. The moment he finally comes face-to-face with the boy is undeniably the most powerful moment in the film. While the first few minutes of the film may be terrifying for very young children, the overall message of the film is something that "children" of any age can enjoy. I must also add that the young actor who was cast to portray the young Jesus is incredibly talented and was able to "balance" the fine line between the character's being a typical 8-year-old boy and "knowing" that he is also the Son of God. Without him this film would not been worth watching at all!

Great movie.
I really liked this movie.. For the most part, it is based on legends about the young Jesus that have been passed down over time but since we know so little of his childhood, it lies in possibility.. The actress who played Mary and the child actor who played Jesus were outstanding.. I originally found this movie on the internet and I liked it so much, I bought in on eBay..

The Young Messiah
It is so beautifully done. The events could have happened, it is the possibility of events in one year of the young Jesus's life at the age of 6 or 7. He is always the Christ no matter what, the film conveys much love and compassion. I highly recommend it.

The Young Messiah DVD is perfect for the Advent Season of the year. Get ready to add to this season's joy.
My timing for the purchase of The Young Messiah was just perfect as we enter the Advent Season that includes the season of our Lord's birth. The presumed story of Jesus in His younger years was just too choice and exactly what I would have supposed. The young actor portraying our Lord was amazing, capturing the heart and soul of the young Savior of the world. I could not have been more blessed with this DVD.

Really enjoyed it!
This movie was better than I expected. We all know the Bible doesn't say a great deal about Jesus life when he was a child. But this movie speculates what it might have been like and they did it very tasteful and with respect. Most certainly worth watching!
