"Route 66: The Complete Series" is a 24-disc set of an iconic television show that aired on CBS between 1960-64. Two friends share adventures as they drive cross-country in their Corvette convertible along the famous Route 66. Tod Stiles grew up in a wealthy family, and Buz Murdock comes from Hell's kitchen. Together, the two young men learn and grow as they wander across the states. Along the way, they take on local jobs, stop to help people, and delve into the social problems of the 1960s. This 24-disc set features all 116 episodes of the four seasons the show aired. Martin Milner and George Mahanis starred in the first two seasons. Glenn Corbet stared in the remaining two seasons of the drama. Guest stars that can be seen in "Route 66: The Complete Series" include Buster Keaton, Boris Karloff, Robert Duvall, Robert Redford, Martin Sheen, Burt Reynolds, and Gene Hackman. Winner of one writing award, this show was nominated twice for an Emmy for acting. Additionally, the drama boasts beautiful scenery as it was filmed and written all over the country in 40 states. Route 66 an American Road trip
I watched this show as a kid growing up in the '60's when it first came on TV. I was only about 10 so I didn't get all the grown-up situations. But watching it now, 60 years later, it's cool to see so many great actors at both the beginning of their careers, Redford, Duvall, Sheen, Caan and towards the end Fairbanks Jr., Lew Ayres, Crawford. Plus the hundreds of character actors featured throughout the run of the series that we've seen in thousands of roles combined My only complaint was the price of the set, but no one put a gun to head and forced me to buy it. Route 66 Review
These series of Route 66 seem to move slow, and without very much excitement. I purchased it because I though I missed out during the years that the show made it's run on television. The entire box series was approximately $72.00. I could have lived without it. I'll keep it, and watch a show from time to time. Render quality on first three episodes of Season 1 is iffy otherwise looks good.
