Better than expected...
"Turbo" marks the point in Judas Priest's career where they felt they needed to get with the times. Not quite fitting in with the burgeoning thrash movement led by Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth and Overkill, Priest went the MTV route and tried to be a bit too much like Def Leppard, Ratt, Bon Jovi etc. Gang vocal shout along choruses, standard beats and riffs coupled with the use of SYNTHESIZERS (GASP!) turned off a portion of their hardcore metal following who were used to bangers like "Breaking the Law" "Screaming for Vengeance" and "Exciter" Thirty years on, this is not a bad record. Take it for what it is. My kids like JP and this is an easy listen. "Turbo Lover" is a staple of their European festival headlining concerts, as the Euros are a much less fickle crowd than the Americans. There are some good riffs and songs in here, and Rob Halford's vocals do not disappoint. Go on, complete your discography!
