"Dragnet" In Clean, Crisp Color
I loved the old, DRAGNET series and when I saw they had made a full-length movie of one episode, I had to see it. I was surprised to see it in full color. It looked so clean & current it was hard to believe it dated to 1954. The classic cars, on the street, give it away. It's also got Chester and Paladin as part of the DRAGNET crew. Saw this in the theater when I was a kid, and the opening scene, in color, freaked me out. Shooting a guy in the face and shooting him again when he is on the ground, with a sawed off shotgun, was my first dose of reality special effects; especially since it was a re-release at the time, and I had already met the characters on tv in black and white. The fight scene was also disturbing at the time, as Friday never got into a fight on tv. Great to see Jacks expanding into the whole Dragnet world, from his initial entry with He Walked By Night. Read his bio on Wikipedia. He was a remarkable guy. I seem to remember a second feature film, or resurgence pilot with Badge 714, but I may be mistaking it for the second evolution of Dragnet, with Harry Morgan. Sad that he was a smoker, and like all the others,, it got him. Heavy smoking going on in this movie too, and have to chuckle at "product placement"... Seeing things now, that I never noticed before --- like Richard Boone, and Dennis Weaver. Maybe not Oscar material, but Friday will forever be part of the fifties culture. Dragnet Movie 1954 Fantastic "A Must Buy"
This movie is a MUST HAVE for any Jack Webb,or Dragnet Fan. It is full of snappy one liners that will make you chuckle, and has a surprise ending. The 1954 era; clothes, cars, and furnishings, are awesome! It is like stepping back into the past.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
