What is "Mom-Fu" Mom-Fu started as an answer to a question I hear every day in my martial arts school. Parents asking "Can we take you home with us?" or " Why do they listen to you .. But not us?" The underlying question is " What are you doing differently that gets "good" behavior from children"Its also an effort on my part to help families find a better balance between "Control Freak" (selfish and over active) parenting and "Door Mat" ( selfish and over passive) parenting. And last but not least I hope this is a step to help all those "martyr mommies" out there regain their strength and enjoy their children more with less guilt and more sanity. It's OK to protect yourself from your kids.This is not a book about how to love and nurture your children. It is a book full of tools and ideas to help you get along with your children better so you can spend more time and energy loving and nurturing them and less time worrying about and fighting with them. It's about changing your behavior so you can help your children improve their behavior. It's OK for you to protect yourself from your kids. I'm not a PhD, or an MD or even a therapist or a school teacher. I have however spent most of my life in a broad range of environments working with children and parents to help kids and parents get along better and improve relationships and results. My mother ran day care centers when I was school age and as with any family business I had plenty of experience helping mom caring for younger children.I was a direct juvenile correction specialist for over six years working day in and day out with kids on the opposite end of the spectrum.I spent a year as a "guest" (substitute) teacherAndI've owned and operated Success Martial Arts for well over a decade.The tools in this book work in all of these environments.Give them a try and see how they work for you.
