Product Information

Cary Grant and Tony Curtis star as naval officers in this service comedy, one of the director's favorite genres. When Adm. Matt Sherman's (Grant) submarine, the Sea Tiger, is damaged during the attack on Pearl Harbor, he needs to find spare parts to have it recommissioned. Into the breach steps aide Lt. Nick Holden (Curtis), a master con man and wheeler-dealer who begins scheming to acquire the materials needed to fix the sub while the appalled Sherman looks the other way. Once the sub is deemed seaworthy, they stop at an island where Holden picks up a couple of Filipino families and five navy nurses who have been stranded there. The arrival of the extremely attractive nurses in the sub's cramped quarters has the predicted effect on the young, all-male crew, who soon find concentrating on their work to be an impossible task. The women also have their own ideas about the renovation of the submarine, one of which involves painting it pink. Despite the dated 1950s gender stereotypes, the comic genius of Grant and the energy of Curtis, in addition to a script witty enough to have been nominated for an Academy Award, keep the film afloat. Among the talented cast are Dick Sargent, Arthur O'Connell, Dina Merrill, Gene Evans, and Gavin McLeod, who would later return to the seas as the captain of THE LOVE BOAT.

    Fun, clean, and entertaining!

    Operation Petticoat is a classic!!! I can not even count the amount of times I have watched. Great movie for a pick me up. Even as many times I have watched this movie it still gets me to smile and laugh at all the predicaments these guys and gals get into ....... Then the way they get out of them is even funnier! A submarine pink in color, women on the sub, pregnant natives and children on the sub, a goat and a pig on board and how they got the US Destroyer to stop firing at them is unpressadented!!! I will not spoil that one for you!!!?

    Classic Grant, always entertaining.

    Another one of the Gary Grant movies that is well written, well produced, and well, just a great movie to watch. Grant as usual is a natural and is surrounded by a cast of like actors. Something for everyone, we watch have watched in four or five times and never tire of it, good family night at the movies.

    Ulterior motives

    I originally ordered this only because I found out through research that the real submarine used at the very first and end (on the "far" shots taken outside) was the same submarine my dad served on, when stationed at San Diego. I wanted to see the Sub. However, the movie was very entertaining and funny and I'm pleased I now own it. You really can't go wrong with Cary Grant.

    A Pink Submarine Full Of Girls - What Could Go Wrong?

    Comedy gold starring the great Cary Grant. This movie is definitely worth adding to any movie fan's collection of Hollywood classics. You've heard of the "Pink Panther" and "The Yellow Submarine". How about a PINK SUBMARINE full of young girls? It's a movie length situation comedy.

    Operation Petticoat is a good title for this movie

    This is a very good movie. All the actors are entertaining and when to appear in each scene. I like the movie. I would watch it again. Never a dull moment.
