An eye opener for anyone that is interested in American history, and more specifically, the history of Texas, and the American west.
My father was from south of San Antonio. Whenever we went to visit relatives, we live in southern Arizona, we would also visit the Alamo. I have read several books on the Alamo, but never one as interesting and eye-opening as this one. I have not finished the book, and if I had more time, I would have finished it sooner. It is a challenge to put it down.
The information the authors bring forward is backed up by excellent research and documentation. There’s a lot of details, but it is an easy and enjoyable read. At my age I am comfortable in saying that I have developed a good understanding of human nature, and of we Americans. Having grown up on the southern border, and from a Hispanic lineage, I have no doubt that the authors have put forth the historical facts of this tragic page of our history. It reminds me of how we Americans have been indoctrinated on our Founding Fathers.
