Synopsis
This is the first general history of World War II to be based both on the existing literature and on extensive work in British, American and German archives. It covers all the theaters of war, the weaponry used, and developments on the home front. Taking a global perspective, the work deals with all belligerents and relates events in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and the Pacific to each other. The role of diplomacy and strategy, of intelligence and espionage, and the impact of war upon society are all dealt with, often on the basis of hitherto unknown material. New light is shed on the actions of great and small powers and on topics ranging from the beginning of the war to the dropping of the atomic bombs; the titanic battles on the Eastern Front are fitted into the war as a whole; the killing of six million Jews and millions of others is placed into context; and the fighting at sea and in the air is included in a coherent view of the great conflict., This major work is the first general history of World War II to be based both on the existing literature and on extensive work in British, American and German archives. Unlike other books on the war, this one is based on the archives - often containing hitherto unknown material - and looks at the war as the global catastrophe it was.

Its obvious that Karwind's cares about their customers. They respond to messages in a reasonable time & work hard to resolve any issues. For this reason, they are one of my few saved sellers. The 2024 DMG was part of a 4-book order. Each book was individually wrapped & shipped in less than 24 hours at a competitive price & with free shipping (see pictures). Check out their store & add them to your saved seller list too.

The seller was very responsive to my initial offer and delivered the Dragon Delves book in great condition for a fair price! The book came in great quality with a shiny cover appearance and no blemish inside or outside. The book also shipped swiftly, packed securely with bubble wrap, and it even arrived early! • Very well put together work

I'm on a WW2 jag at the moment. I have watched a number of films and documentaries, and am reading or have read about six works thus far (The Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich) Stephen Ambrose and WW2 an illustrated history. This book is so far the best of the lot. It is not specifically unit focused, if you're interested in the strategic military level (which corps did what, the fighting etc) it only has limited amounts of that. Instead it is a global history, so focuses on why Hitler and the German High Command went a certain way, what they were influenced by, and how that in turn impacted the UK and other countries. It is very well researched. Highly recommend

  • Very detailed, and simply the BEST single history.

Without question, this is the best history of the war. Not a march from battle to battle but a detailed examination of the underpining for the decisions and results of those battles, and the consequences. Just "WOW", but most definitely not for the casual interest.
