Good old VHS!!!
If you still have the ability to record VHS the Sony T-120 premium grade tapes are the way to go. I have an old Panasonic 2 in 1 VCR that I still occasionally use to tape sporting events that I want to keep. The quality of the recordings are great with a clear picture and sound.
