Hal Holbrook - Mark Twain -- magnificent
Hal Holbrook was an amazing actor in many roles, but his Mark Twain is the epitome of his work. Of course, it helps using the wonderful American writer for your scripts, but -- Had the privilege of seeing him live -- thank God his work has been captured on video for generations to come.

"Mark Twain Tonight" is still very entertaining.
The acting and subject matter were excellent and timeless. The camera work was also excellent. The sound was a bit more of a problem, at least for my old ears. Closed captioning would have been a big help.

Hal Holbrook is Mark Twain
If you are a Mark Twain fan this performance is simply a must. Hal Holbrook gives a wonderful performance and is Mark Twain. Twain is a subtle humorist. Anyone expecting simplistic belly laughs will be disappointed. Anyone who enjoys cerebral humor involving the careful use of words will greatly enjoy it.

A JOY !
Hal Holbrook brings Mark Twain to life in the best stand-up act we've ever seen. If you're a fan of Sam Clemens, you'll fall in love with Holbrook's "incarnation" of the great man. An absolute JOY to watch !!

Mark Twain Lives!
I enjoyed Mr. Holbrook's portrayal of Mark Twain/ He brought the man back to life in such a way that could only be improved by Samuel Clemens appearing in person. John Alan Saunders [science fiction writer and author]

Mark Twain Tonight - 1960s Television
Classic television about a very great American. More such as this should be produced today. This program was from 1967. Mark Twain's message to Americans was and still is vital.

Classic Holbrook but the DVD could be sharper and have closed captions
The DVD doesn't have closed captions and the picture is less than HD sharp. Holbrook's performance is as great as ever.
