A good but by no means great compilation of Isaac Hayes instrumentals.
This is a rather strange compilation of previously-unreleased Isaac Hayes instrumentals recorded from the late 1960s through the early 1980s. It definitely has some bright spots but (as a whole) is truly for the Isaac Hayes completist as many of these instrumentals are nowhere near as good or as interesting as the material released on his albums. If you are a true Isaac Hayes fan you probably will like this CD but once you listen to it you will undoubtedly understand why these tracks remained unreleased until 1995.
This was Isaac Hayes' final album with his band Movement. "Birth of Shaft", "Funkalicious", and "Funky Junky" are standouts by these incredible musicians. If you're a fan of Hayes, I recommend it.
Classic early Isaac Hayes, more jazzy, smooth and yet with a soulful beat. It is good for relaxing on a breezy summer night, dancing in the moonlight, or in a jazzy night club. Definitely raw and yet refined.
