The Nikon 1 V3 Mirrorless Digital Camera is a compact, advanced camera featuring a CX-format 18.4MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4A image processor to produce high-resolution stills and full HD movies with notable sensitivity to ISO 12800. The combination of these two technologies also affords fast performance throughout the camera, including a full-resolution continuous shooting rate of 20 fps with full-time autofocus and a 120 fps movie frame rate for recording slow motion sequences. Complementing the imaging assets is an equally deft Hybrid AF System, which combines both phase- and contrast-detection focusing methods to deliver AF performance that is both quick and precise.

Excellent compact quality
I love this camera, after first impressions when it was released were negative. It is a quality camera, with lots of positives, one being the speed. It is fast, great for catching wildlife with the superb Nikon CX 70-300 VR lens. The few negatives can be irritants - use of the Micro-SD memory card, which I have overcome by keeping a Micro-SD to SD adapter handy. The accessory grip, which is a really fine addition, has to be removed every time the battery needs changing. Compared to a DSLR, battery life is relatively short. Also, Nikon recommends removing the removable EVF viewfinder after using, which to me is a bother. I leave it on all the time Overall, I really like the V3 and would recommend it to others. Lightweight Great Features for birding
This camera is great for photographing birds. That is because it have a 2.7 cropping factor and if ,for example, you use a 300 mm lens it's equivalent to an 810 mm . You will need to buy a viewfinder and you can use any Nikon lens if you buy the converter. Because of the cropping factor you will produce great photos without the need of a very expensive lens, using a very light weight gear and also with the capacity of 20 FPS. Because of It's tiny sensor this camera is not for portrait and is just OK for all other purposes.This camera is great for photographing birds. Small is perfect.
Mirrorless SLR so body is smaller. Loads of great features and Wifi connectivity. For me the ideal camera. Flexibility with various zoom lenses and as simple or complicated as you want to make it. So pleased I bought this camera.

Awesome camera
I love that i can put my old lenses on it (with adaptor) and the max usable iso is between iso3200 and iso6400, A big step up from my D40. Video quality is great. And it is so nice having the size of a mirrorless on travel

Great little cameras.
The only thing wrong with the Nikon 1 series cameras is they quit making them. I think for someone buying into this family of cameras now, the question really turns on two lenses. ONe is the 1 Nikkor VR 70-300 f/4,5-5.6 zoom. The other is the 1 Nikkor 32mm f/1.2. If you can get either or both of these lenses at a reasonable price, the whole system is fantastic. Those two lenses are absolutely incredible. The zoom is equivalent to a 189-810 in the larger 35mm sized cameras. But, it's in a small enough package that you can easily hand hold it (with bracing). I've gotten some amazing shots with it. The 32mm is a fantastic low light and portrait lens. The only real downside to the Nikon 1 v2 or v3 is that they do very slowly build up heat when in video mode. You can go about 20 ... But, who runs video for that long at a spurt anyway? If I didn't own virtually the entire 1 Nikkor lens family and was just starting out, then I would probably go with the Nikon Z family, but for the money the Nikon 1 is a great system that doesn't disappoint. I'll include a pic that I got with the zoom at about 100 yards, and you decide.
