  • Weak but watchable.

Cheaply made movie with some good moments, but like most modern science fiction, throws science out the window in order to advance a not-so-original plot. The astronauts do not behave as real professionals, and the worst of it is that any nation (or combination) would send a bunch of unprepared people to discover the properties of Europa without having first sent countless probes to secure a fairly secure idea of what to expect. This is what we are doing on Mars, so why would any space agency forfeit the concept of human safety? There is nothing that the humans do that could not have been discovered beforehand by robots and drones.

  • Europa Report, an exciting almost documentary-style adventure on a search for life.

A wonderful Sci-Fi movie. We accompany a group of NASA-type explorers on a trip to Jupiter's moon, Europa. We see strength and courage and a quest to learn and experience... there are men and women but no love interest, no interpersonal drama... no blood, no bad guy, not a gun in the entire film... just professional working scientists on a very interesting mission fraught with peril and life-threatening moments. The goal of the mission is to see if the chemistry for life, or maybe life, itself, exists in the sub-ice ocean of Europa. Do they find anything? ... A very realistic vision of such an adventure. The Blu-Ray plays well, the imagery is fantastic. We really care about the people with edge-of-your-seat excitement.

  • A gem for fans of serious sci-fi

Limited special effects and action sequences, so dominant in mainstream cinema, are perfectly in tune here with the characters, emotions, mystery and discovery. This is a gem for fans of real, ambitious science fiction.

  • Nice sci fi

I'm not a fan of "lost footage" movies as a general rule but in this case it seems to fit.

  • The Creators of This Film Knew the Realities of Space

I spent most of my career working on space missions and satellites, and the people who made this movie definitely knew their stuff. The "routine" hazards of space flight, such as hydrazine contamination, are realistically portrayed, and the hazards of landing on a new world are also believable. Europa is a satellite of Jupiter that is subject to tremendous tidal forces which can cause the quakes and unsure footing encountered by the astronauts in this movie. The accuracy makes the terror so believable! It kept me up at night!
