Scads of colour stock footage from the 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth was strategically deployed in JOHN AND JULIE. The story involves two little provincial children (Colin Gibson, Lesley Dudley) whose parents have no plans to attend the Coronation. Left to their own devices, John and Julie run off to London, where with the help of several eccentric types they get to see the Queen's installation. On the basis of its content, it isn't surprising that John and Julie isn't revived much these days. But some enterprising distributor might take note that the film features an early supporting appearance by Peter Sellers, once again hiding his youthfulness beneath a ton of makeup.Product Identifiers

Fond memories
I first viewed this on itv about 35yrs back when i lived in uk. I had a vhs copy was pleased to replace with disc. Classic british actors in a beautiful film...of the Great Britain of yester year...un complicated and childhood innocence. Lesley Dudley is adorable a real shirley temple well mannered and just lovely. sentimental , historical, funny and a timeless reference to a bygone age
I saw this colour film for the first time on TV recently. As it is based on a historcal event, ie the Queen's coronation of 1953,it does not date. It deserves far more recognition than it gets and has emotion, humour, moral values and social history. I missed the Coronation as an ll year old schoolgirl, no tv available in our house or street, so love this film.

Lovely stiry
