The Delta RP46074 MultiChoice Universal Cartridge Assembly makes your next home improvement project a breeze with easy-to-follow instructions. This replacement part can be used to repair leaking bathroom shower faucets. It can add temperature control to prevent scalds from hot water with all O-rings, springs, and seats included. It's also an essential component for the installation of bath or shower faucets. The RP46074 cartridge creates a watertight seal and controls the flow of water through your shower tap. It's compatible with a large range of Delta faucets. This cartridge prevents leaks and drips when your faucet is turned off. It is made entirely of plastic, nonmetallic materials and stainless steel, making it an appropriate choice for bathroom repairs in areas where brass breaks down due to minerals in the plumbing water supply. The Delta RP46074 cartridge is a single-function pressure-balance cartridge. It controls the temperature of the water that comes from your shower. As long as you have a sufficient hot water supply, the replacement will work to control the temperature. Note that it is necessary to get a correctly sized water heater to maintain hot water the longer you run your tub or shower. At 60 psi, the RP46074 will provide about 6 gallons of water per minute. You can adjust the flow rate by changing the showerhead completely or installing a model that is adjustable. If the inside your faucet valve has cracked or otherwise deteriorated, this cartridge offers an easy, do-it-yourself repair with simple instructions. Just turn off the water to the faucet. Remove the bonnet ring and pull the broken cartridge straight out of the valve. If it does not want to slide out, soak a towel in an equal solution of water and white vinegar to break up deposits. Finally, slip in the new component and return the bonnet ring. The hot-cold water solution can be mixed to adjust the temperature output to your preferred settings. To do so, use the hot temperature limit retainer included. Due to the fact that this cartridge is pressure balanced, it equalizes the flow rate to the lowest pressure of the hot and cold water supply. You will need to have the hot and cold water supplies turned on for water to flow through the valve. Most people with basic home repair experience will be able to follow the directions and successfully repair a leaking shower valve, but you can also ask a professional to complete the installation. If your faucet model number is not printed on your handle or valve and you are not sure which model Delta faucet you have, consult your manual for more information. The Delta RP46074 cartridge is designed for Delta 13 series and 14 series shower systems produced since February 2006. All Delta Shower and Tub Trim kits feature the MultiChoice Universal Rough In valve R10000-UNBX valve assembly as part of the kit.

    It was advertised as "new." Which is defined as unopened but in fact the package was open. I know it didn't happen in the mail because all the literature was missing. Not a big deal but you are counting on installation instructions, you might be disappointed.

    Fragile

    My shower valve cracked in half because of the cheap plastic used to construct it. I'm not talking about the knob, I'm talking about the interior parts. This caused me to have to replace it. I was grateful that I was able to find it easily, and replace it easily, and that the replacement part was relatively inexpensive. If you are doing new construction, you may wish to consider a more robust shower valve.

    excellent until frozen

    It worked great for years, until it froze, I learned during the TX winter blackout this year. When frozen, it will disintegrate when you attempt to turn it on. [City water had started flowing again and I went to all of the faucets in the house to see how things were working. The remainder worked fine.] I like the product. But it is a good idea to have a spare laying around, just in case

    Two millimeters too long.

    Unfortunately, this is not a genuine Delta product. At first glance it looked identical, But after several unsuccessful attempts to install , I discovered it to be about 2mm longer than the original. Bummer and now its not returnable because of my attempts at trimming it to fit. My loss. Had it fit. it would be a great value. George

    Garbage

    I bought a Delta tub/shower faucet thinking it would be at least decent quality. I was wrong. The faucet was used very little and first the seals/springs went bad, then the whole cartridge went bad almost immediately after replacing springs/seals. Then I bought a replacement cartridge and the springs/seals were bad out of the box. Junk.
