Somewhat predictable, worth seeing once.
Morgan Freeman is one of my favorite actors, and he didn't disappoint. I like Diane Keaton, too, and to be fair, she played her roll well, but I found her character to be somewhat annoying, after a while. The plot is about a couple who live "five flights up" in an apartment building with no elevator. The neighborhood has changed over the 40 years that they've lived there, but everyone knows each other, and they are comfortable there. Since they are aging, Ruth feels the need to be proactive and move to a different place that has an elevator, and sell the apartment that they own. Somewhat predictably, in the end, they decide to stay in their old place for as long as they can. Various things, notably their dog's ruptured disk, surgery, and recuperation, add interest to the plot. There ... Morgan Freeman is one of my favorite actors, and he didn't disappoint. There are other characters introduced, as well...the very aggressive and hyper niece realtor, various quirky characters who visit their apartment during an open house (and also show up at other open houses that Ruth and Alex attend), and especially an astute little girl who charms Alex, when they meet. The viciousness and competitiveness of the real estate market in NY is interesting. The nice touches to the plot included flashbacks of earlier years in Ruth and Alex's relationship and marriage, which are nostalgic and help to show an overview of their history and attachment to their apartment. As I mentioned, Ruth's character seemed somewhat annoying (albeit nice), but Alex's character was deeper, with a desire to please Ruth more than anything else on earth. Morgan Freemean was wonderful in the roll! I'm glad we watched it, but probably won't keep it to watch again.

The title says it all
This is a lovely story and is most appreciated by viewers in the 70-80 age range. It's easy to relate to what the couple is going through as the aging process continues in life. Even Dorothy, their dog, is feeling her years.

It was just OK thought it could have been good. expect more from Diann Keaton and Morgan Freeman both actors I like allot The best character in the movie was the Real Estate Lady .

Excellent family movie
Excellent family movie. If you are a dog lover you will love this dogs journey to better health. Morgan Freeman is excellent.

Warm and loving
I was in the hospital when I watched this movie. I loved it so much, I watched it two more times. It's so awsome to see couples who truely love each other and get along so completely. It left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
