A great resource on wildlife
A favorite from my childhood, info on lots of animals, plants and fungi, with excellent artwork. I’m not sure if the info is completely up to date as the book is from the 80s, but for the casual user I’m sure it’s as accurate as you’d need. Using it to take with on my trips to national parks. Noted a zone of wolverines in Southern California. This is an old book. Looked up current info. There is ONE WOLVERINE LEFT in So Cal. So sad. But I learned about it because of this book.

Amazing natural resource for kids and adults!
Decades-old book with excellent illustrations and information. My grandmother gifted me one when I was 8, My 7yo son found it in the bookshelf and was as fascinated I was when I was a kid, so I bought one on eBay and gifted it to him since mine was worn out. Excellent book to have if or your kids are into nature, hiking, or other outdoor activities where you encounter foliage and wildlife. Can't recommend it enough!

Excellent Wildlife Reference!
The Readers Digest North American Wildlife is filled with a treasure trove of information for outdoorsmen (and women) who have an interest in the flora and fauna they are likely to encounter. And the illustrations are just excellent (and accurate). I wouldn't be without my copy. I was so impressed, I went online and bought two more copies, one for each of my brothers. Makes a terrific bathroom reader too!

Very informative, I know what poison ivy looks like now, and I know what kind of snake crawled inside my house. was either a rat snake or racer snake.
Good book has plenty of pictures. I'm old so if the book had bigger pages it'd be better for the elderly ( bigger pictures ) I knew the size of the book before I bought it.1 I'll just get my magnifying glass out or put my glasses on.

Great book at a very great price
I am very pleased to find this book with such a great price. One of my coworkers has a 5 year old very interested in nature and birds. Everyone in my family has a copy of this book so I wanted to get him one. I'm really pleased.

Best Reference Source
I bought this to replace one I wore out that I pirchased in the 1980's. I see there is a new and inproved model that I almose confused for this one. This book covers about every animal and plant that you wil come across. I live in the country and find it an invaluable reference to every bird, plant or wildlife I have encountered. In the 80's I paid $25.00 for it, so the price has increased considerabley, but worth every cent. I will not be without this book!

Older, Useful Reference Book
This older, hardcover reference book has useful drawings and factual blurbs of many plants and animals. Well organized. Purchased used.

Great Family Resource!
Great family resource! I got a copy years ago and kept it in the car for the times our family went camping or on outings. We'd see an animal, fish or bird and look it up. Now I'm giving a copy to my oldest son so he can continue the practice with his young family.
