Gritty realism through the eyes of the cannon fodder on the Eastern Front
This was such a good read, informative (through explanations illustrations & photographs), factual (through the authors 1st hand experience) & entertaining (through the visceral combat sections & the sometimes unreal relations between two brothers in arms sharing a muddy foxhole).
Excellent read. Really brings home the brutal reality of warfare on the eastern front in WW2. Highly recommended. One of the best war books I have read.
