An unvarnished, realistic view of WWI from the eyes of a man who was a part of that historitcal event.

Not a boring book about war and old people
Forced to read in school for a class, I was expecting a boring war book. Was surprised by the depth of character development and by some of the harder to swallow truths of war. The characters were my age at the time. I remember returning to class the day we had been assigned to read the one scene—if you’ve read it, you know the one—we all sat down in complete silence, only looked at each other to say WOW we were not prepared for that. Wow.
By far the best book I have ever read. It's a chilling masterpiece and an extremely sad account of the savagery these young men had to endure. Best War Novel Ever Written!
